I had the absolute joy of joining Katy and Jack for their wedding back in May 2025 at the Hotel Rembrandt in Weymouth, Dorset. They had the perfect weather, warm and sunny but not too hot that you feel like you’re melting which meant that we had free reign in the little garden at the Rembrandt for cocktail hour, confetti and posed photos which was perfect!
I joined Katy and her bridal party for getting ready photos at her family home after a very short 5 minute commute for me (I love being able to work at the venues in my hometown!) and have never felt more welcomed by a group of women before. There was so much kindness in the room, everyone was so thoughtful! Beth (New You Hair) and Hollie (Hollie Rose Beauty) worked their magic and the Bride, Bridesmaids and Flower Girls all looked amazing! It was a really beautiful start to the day.
First Look With Dad
One of the things that Katy and I had discussed during their booking process was about having a first look with her dad - something that was going to be incredibly important to both of them. We set Katy up on the terrace outside, and waited for her dad to come out of the door. It was such an emotional moment for them all, and had the Bride’s Mum and her bridesmaids tearing up behind the camera. I’m so glad we managed to find the time to squeeze it in!
The Ceremony
Katy and Jack had picked the Hotel Rembrandt as their ceremony (and reception) venue, and had picked the smaller of their two rooms to get married in. With only about 40 guests, it felt like such an intimate ceremony and one that was full of joy and laughter. I’ve never seen a bride and groom laugh so much through the service, you could instantly tell that they were each other’s best friends and that they were meant to be together.
The Party
After confetti and a Pimms in the garden, we were straight into the evening celebrations. Guests had dinner catered by the Rembrandt kitchens, Katy and Jack cut into a beautiful cake made by the Cactus Tearooms, and then Forever Events set up and began an evening full of music and dancing. And if dancing wasn’t for them, then the guests had a photobooth, indoor mini golf or a kids craft table to choose from!

As a documentary photographer, I don’t like to spend a lot of time posing for portraits (I’d much rather take photos of you enjoying your wedding day with your guests!). This worked perfectly for Katy and Jack, so we chose to spend 15 minutes taking photos and also waited until later in the evening to sneak away. This meant that all the important things had already been done, the guests were fed and happy, and they both felt more relaxed. I will always suggest to do this on a wedding day, it really takes the pressure off and gives you those beautiful portraits that you want too!
